Overview

In response to mounting user dissatisfaction with Simplero's outdated page builder, I led the redesign and implementation of a revolutionary solution within Simplero's CRM system. The primary goal was to overcome the limitations of the existing builder, which users found clunky and restrictive, leading some to resort to custom CSS and even contemplate leaving the platform. My role involved conducting extensive user and expert interviews, creating product requirements, and collaborating closely with the Lead Engineer to bring about a transformative change. The result was a feature-rich page builder with innovative elements such as a WYSIWYG editor, style guide, color picker, and more.

My role

As the lead product designer, I spearheaded the entire redesign process, from conducting user and expert interviews to creating comprehensive product requirements. In the absence of a product manager, I took charge of outlining the project's goals and collaborated closely with the Lead Engineer to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality. My responsibilities included a comprehensive competitive analysis, design and architecture of innovative features, and the production of various design artifacts such as personas, sketches, wireframes, UI designs, and prototypes. Throughout the process, I played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall user experience and addressing critical pain points within Simplero's CRM system.

The Challenge

The old page builder was limited in customization

The project aimed to address critical issues with Simplero's existing page builder. Users faced challenges in achieving their desired designs, resorting to external developers and custom CSS. Migration from other platforms was hindered, and the threat of user exodus loomed. The primary target was to enhance user satisfaction and retention. The challenge involved understanding user needs, conducting a comprehensive competitive analysis, and formulating product requirements. Technical constraints and the need for efficient design were crucial considerations to ensure a streamlined development process.

The Solution: Empowering CRM Excellence through Simplero’s Page Builder Revolution

The redesign journey commenced with in-depth user and expert interviews, unraveling frustrations with Simplero's existing page builder. This insight shaped detailed product requirements, where, in the absence of a dedicated product manager, I assumed a lead role in defining project goals. A comprehensive competitive analysis not only spotlighted the flaws in Simplero's builder but also drew inspiration from industry-leading features, setting the redesign's trajectory.

Collaboration with the Lead Engineer ensured a seamless fusion of design and functionality, resulting in a swift and efficient development process. The innovative features, including a WYSIWYG editor, style guide, color picker, and more, were meticulously crafted to empower users, addressing customization needs and enhancing the overall design flexibility. Crucially, the redesign underscored the symbiotic relationship between a robust page builder and CRM users.

Recognizing the pivotal role of CRM integration, the new design seamlessly incorporated the page builder into Simplero's CRM system. This strategic move aimed not only to rectify clunkiness but to position Simplero as a CRM platform leader. The redesign was more than a fix; it was a statement of empowerment, customer loyalty, and an elevated market standing. In essence, the project highlighted the vital role a sophisticated page builder plays in enhancing the broader CRM user experience.
